Samsung's newest counter-depth French-door fridge called the RF23M8090SG is priced at $4200. It's a good-looking model that boasts useful features like an autofill water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It also performed well during our cooling test, but we're not a fan of the gimmicky handles or the fragile crisper bins.
Bespoke is a feature that makes the RF23M8090SG stand out. It lets you customize your refrigerator with removable colored panels. There are 11 color options, from soft pastels to bolder hues and four metallic finishes. These panels can be personalized to include photos or text. This will make the fridge more personal and can be matched to your Rick Owens dress, Andy Warhol banana neon, or tie-dye Crocs.
You can even change the color of the fridge's LED lighting, which is a nice touch. And the refrigerator's interior is finished in a way that helps reduce smudges and makes cleaning easier. The only real drawbacks of the RF23M8090SG is its crowded beverage center, and a little learning curve to open the door-indoor feature, which houses a water dispenser and an ice maker. You must feel for a lever on the side of the door that is halfway across, and once you have it the lever, it opens another door inside the fridge, which houses the pitcher docking station as well as the water dispenser, and two shelves for drinks.

It also has a few annoying issues. Our test data shows the FGHB2866PF can warm up quite a lot in the freezer and become uncomfortably hot in the innermost shelves of the fridge. This is evident in our heat maps, which show how much the interior temps fluctuate minute by minute. The butter bin in the orange area at the top right is especially warm during our test period. That might not seem so awful at first glance, but it means the fridge spends a good portion of its time above 33 degrees.
It's also worth mentioning that the FGHB2866PF isn't an Energy Star-certified model, which could be a factor for some buyers. The main issue is that this fridge isn't very good. It's not equipped with the latest features and a durable construction which makes it difficult to recommend it over more expensive models at this price.
This Frigidaire refrigerator is identical to the stainless steel version you may see in the local store for appliances. It's a safe choice with a brushed finish that looks good and is resistant to scratches, but it doesn't do much to differentiate itself from other brands that have more features and more affordable.
If you're looking for a counter-depth French-door fridge but don't want to spend a lot of money, the FGHC2331PF might be worth considering. It's got enough storage to meet the requirements of most families and does a good job at keeping food fresh. Even if it's not an energy-efficient unit, it's a lot cheaper than our top-rated models.
